News |German film business in the spotlight at Villa Aurora
Best Actress nominee Sandra Hüller (Anatomy of a Fall) and the teams of The Teachers’ Lounge (Best International Feature, Germany), Perfect Days (Best International Feature, Japan), and Four Daughters (Best Documentary Feature) attended the event at the historic Villa Aurora in Pacific Palisades.
Los Angeles, March 11th, 2024, Last Saturday, the day before the 96th Academy Awards® were handed out at the Dolby Theatre, the German nominees for this year’s awards were celebrated for their accomplishments during the annual brunch event, organized in cooperation of Villa Aurora/ Thomas Mann House, The Consulate General of Germany, Medienboard Berlin- Brandenburg, FFF Filmförderungsanstalt, MOIN Filmförderung and additional sponsors.
Director Ilker Catak (The Teachers’ Lounge), director Wim Wenders (Perfect Days), director Kaouther Ben Hania (Four Daughters), actress Sandra Hüller (Anatomy of a Fall, The Zone of Interest), actor Leonie Benesch (The Teachers’ Lounge), and actor Christian Friedel (The Zone of Interest) were among the guests at the event.
“We are excited to have another former fellow of Villa Aurora be part of our event. Judith Kaufmann did an incredible job for The Teachers’ Lounge and it once again underlines the importance of our fellowship program,” said Jakob Scherer, managing director of Villa Aurora/ Thomas Mann House in Los Angeles. It continues the success of other fellows such as All Quiet on the Western Front director Edward Berger and shows that we can make a difference within the film industry.
After a stage presentation of the nominees and their teams, guests from the movie industries in Germany and the USA, together with the Consul Generals from Germany and Austria, as well as other dignitaries celebrated and continued their dialogue about future perspectives of our industries.
