Sagardía | Composer
Sagardía studied instrumental composition with Adriana Hölzsky and Hans-Joachim Hespos at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock and later at Folkwang Universität der Künste with Nicolaus A. Huber and Günther Steinke, as well as electronic composition with Dirk Reith.
He has received grants for his work from the Ensemble Modern Academy, the Cité internationale des Arts Paris, Villa Aurora Los Angeles, Künstlerhof Schreyahn, the Berlin Senate for Culture and Europe, the Musikfond Berlin, theAkademie der Künste Berlin, and NES Artist residency Skagaströnd Island / Künstlerhaus Lukas. His script Schwarze Ähre was awarded 1st prize by the Goethe-Institut St. Petersburg.
His music has led him to collaborate with Ensemble Gelber Klang, Ensemble Adapter, Ensemble Kaleidoskop, Wolfgang Zamastil, Christian Grammel, Björn SC Deigner, Florian Werner, Federico Dörries, Gordon Kampe, Maximilian Marcoll, Olaf Hochherz, Lennart Dohms, Niederrheinische Sinfoniker, Helios Quartet, Manuel Nawri and the string trio 3cordes.
He also collaborates with visual artists such as Piero Glina, Sebastian Cremers and Isa Melsheimer. His music is performed at various festivals in the country and abroad.
In addition, Sagardía is a member of the indie rock bands DIKTATOR OHNE LAND, LAB OF THE HALO and PALM PILOT.
