Sagardía moved to Germany from Paraguay in 1983. He studied composition with Adriana Hölszky, Nicolaus A. Huber, and Günter Steinke and electronic composition with Dirk Reith. He also attended composition workshops with Hans-Joachim Hesp. Sagardía has been living and working in Berlin as a freelance composer and scriptwriter since 2007. He is a member of the indie rock bands Lab of the Halo; Diktator Ohne Land; Das Hausstudio, and the Ensemble Testklang.

He has collaborated in recent years with the Ensemble Kaleidoskop; Ensemble Gelber Klang; Netzwerk-Ensemble TESTKLANG; the Helios Quartett; Wolfgang Zamastil; Elmar Schrammel; Marc Tritschler; Scott Roller; Gordon Kampe; Manuel Nawri; Maximilian Marcoll and Felix Dreher (sound directing) as well as with artists in the areas of film and media: Sandrina Andic (director); Mestiz (media designer); Sebastian Cremers (designer); and Piero Glina (designer).

Sagardía was a fellow of the Ensemble Modern Academy from 2005-2006; Villa Auroa Pacific Palisades in 2007, and Künstlerhof Schreyahn.
