News |Oscars 2019: The German Oscar nominees at Villa Aurora

Last Saturday, the day before the Oscars, the traditional reception in honor of the German Oscar nominees took place at the Villa Aurora in Los Angeles with more than 600 guests from  film, arts, science and politics. This event was organized by Villa Aurora together with the German Consulate General in L.A. and German Films. Partners of the reception are the German supporters of the Oscar nominated films, the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, FilmFernsehFonds Bayern, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, Mitteldeutsche Medienförderung and the Federal Foreign Office. The event was sponsored by Volkswagen, Dr. Hauschka and Crosby Doe Associates.

The German contribution "Werk ohne Autor" by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck was nominated in the category Best Foreign Language Film. In addition, the cinematographer Caleb Deschanel was nominated in the category Best Cinematography. Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, the actors Tom Schilling, Sebastian Koch, Oliver Masucci and Saskia Rosendahl, the producers Quirin Berg and Max Wiedemann as well as Dirk Schürhoff (World Sales: Beta Cinema) and Michael Barker (US distributor: Sony) were present.

Also present were the teams of the other nominated films "Of Fathers and Sons" (Best Documentary Feature), "Isle of Dogs" (Best Animated Feature, Best Music) and "Cold War" (Best Foreign Language Film, Best Directing, Achievement in Cinematography).
