"One is involved in the American environment in an extraordinary way. The proximity to the city and simultaneous seclusion of the villa makes it possible to perceive and reflect on social phenomena." Nadine Fecht was a fellow with us at Villa Aurora last year, and with this observation she refers to a feature of many residency programs. We call it "rooms with a view," but we mean more than our rooms with Pacific views. As a residency, we create spaces: for artistic and creative thinking, acting and research, space for encounters, co-creation and sustainable dialogue - and we provide the infrastructure for presenting one's own work.

As such, residency programs are laboratories for changes in perspective: they allow the gaze of the free-floating observer and thus create impulses for change - in the societies of origin, the residencies, and also in the work of the fellows themselves.

The installations, video and audio works as well as poster editions of the Villa Aurora fellows Ulu Braun, Nadine Fecht, Marc Fromm, Anna Sofie Hartmann, Labour (Farahnaz Hatam and Colin Hacklander), Isabelle Stever, Robin Stretz and Sarah Szczesny presented in the context of "Räume mit Aussicht" are intended to provide information about this experience.
