Andaç Berkan Akbiyik, who works under the artist name BRKN, was raised in Berlin's Kreuzberg neighborhood and grew up in a musically rich environment influenced by his Turkish, Armenian, and Kurdish roots. After an early start with piano and saxophone, he was rapping, playing guitar, and producing his own tracks by age 12. His unique blend of R&B, soul and rap quickly earned him recognition in the music scene. Now headlining sold-out tours, BRKN has collaborated with artists like Herbert Grönemeyer and openly talks about toxic masculinity and mental health.

During his residency at Villa Aurora, BRKN wants to work on his fourth album, which will enrich the genres of hip-hop, soul, funk, and R&B in an intercultural way. He wants to create innovative and cross-genre tracks that reach deeper emotional and musical levels. He is aiming for collaborations with U.S. musicians as well as an exploration of Los Angeles, a city steeped in musical history.

BRKN is Villa Aurora Fellow of Musicboard Berlin.
