Dieu Hao Do, born in Stadthagen, Lower Saxony, studied film directing at the Film University Babelsberg Konrad Wolf. He is a member of the Berlin Asian Film Network (BAFNET), a non-profit initiative committed to differentiated representations of Asian-Germans in film and television. Today, he works as a screenwriter and director in Berlin. In his films, he mainly deals with contemporary Asian-German perspectives, as well as life in the diaspora focusing on intergenerational issues of war, trauma, and cultural heritage.

In Los Angeles, Dieu Hao Do will continue to develop a feature film in which he explores the Asian diasporic experience. Memories in their constant process of creation and transformation will play a central role in his project: What forces affect a young person's experience of flight over time? What impact does a family's biography of flight over three decades have on a young person?
