Birgit Kreipe | Literature
Birgit Kreipe, born in Hildesheim, studied psychology and modern German literature in Marburg, Vienna, and Göttingen. She is a psychotherapist and poet and lives in Berlin. Her poems have won several awards have been translated, most recently into English, Spanish and Polish. She works on poetic texts that are inspired partly psychoanalytically, partly historically or scientifically. She explores inner and outer spaces of experience and relates them to each other. She is currently interested in the theme of self-awareness and individuation against the backdrop of multiple crises and changes in environmental relationships. She takes up motifs ranging from ancient oracles and mystical experience to modern prophecies or prognoses and makes them fruitful for her poems.
In Los Angeles, she will expand her project to include poetic investigations into the ecological and historical stratification of landscapes. She is interested in traditional and contemporary interpretations and descriptions.
