Feras Fayyad is a two-time Oscar-nominated and Emmy Award-winning director, producer, writer, and TED speaker. He gained international recognition for his documentaries Last Men in Aleppo and The Cave. His work has received over 120 awards. He has worked with the most prestigious American and European film studios and networks, including Netflix, Disney, National Geographic, ARTE, PBS, BBC, and ARD. He has received support for his films from the highest-ranking film funds in Europe, the UK, and the US. He has been a member of the jury at several film festivals, including the Zurich Film Festival, the Sundance Film Festival, the Sheffield Film Festival, and the Malmö Film Festival. Appointed by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to teach aspiring filmmakers, Feras Fayyad has given master classes in film and filmmaking at American and European schools and universities, including Columbia University, the Hochschule für Künste Bremen, the Munich Film School, and Yale Film School. Feras Fayyad is scheduled to direct two feature films with the American studio Sugar23 and the French studio LeLe Film. He is also working on two animated films with the UK-based studio Rise Film.

Feras Fayyad’s project is an animated documentary that tells the harrowing true story of the sinking of the migrant ship “Adriana” off the Greek coast on January 22, 2023. The film focuses on a group of refugees who embark on a desperate journey across the Mediterranean to Europe on an overcrowded fishing boat. The film follows the few survivors as they try to cope with the enormous trauma and defend themselves against the accusations leveled against the ship.
