• Highly Recommeded Citation in 2004 Sable/Arvon (UK) Short story Writing Contest
• Shortlisted for the 2007 HSBC PEN SOUTH AFRICA Short Story Writing Contest
• Winner of the 2008 OXFAM/NOVIB PEN FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION AWARD at the Hague for co-authoring the play The Crocodile Of Zambezi which was banned by the Zimbabwean Government because of its political content.
• Winner of THE FIRST BEST CREATIVE PUBLISHED WORK at National Arts MeritAwards 2009 (Zimbabwe) for the short story collection Dancing With Life: Tales From The Township, published by amaBooks Publishers.
• Awarded an Honorable Mention in the 2009 NOMA AWARD FOR BOOK PUBLISHING IN AFRICA for Dancing With Life: Tales From The Township.
• The 2009 Novel, Many Rivers, published by LION PRESS (UK), has been nominated for Outstanding Fiction Book in the 2010 National Merit Awards (Zimbabwe).
