Chico Mello was born in Brazil and studied music, medicine and composition there and in Berlin. He works in Brazil and Germany as a composer, instrument performer and singer in the fields of experimental and popular music and music theatre. His work has been performed at new music festivals such as Donaueschinger Musiktage, Stille Music-Boswil, Switzerland, Festival International de Musique Electroacustique-Bourges, France and Bienal de Musica Contemporanea, Rio de Janeiro.

Impressed by the valuation of the multicultural aesthetical background of new music in California, Chico Mello would like to use his fellowship at Villa Aurora to continue the process of discovering ‘Just Intonation’.
