Senthuran Varatharajah, born in 1984 in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, studied philosophy, Protestant theology, and comparative religious and cultural studies in Marburg, Berlin, and London. In 2016, his debut novel "Vor der Zunahme der Zeichen" ("Before the Increase of Signs") was published by S. Fischer Verlag and received multiple awards. In 2022, his also highly acclaimed novel "Rot (Hunger)" ("Red (Hunger)") followed, published by the same publisher. Senthuran Varatharajah lives in Berlin.
