Born in 1970, Sri Lanka. Started working as a journalist in 1991. Worked as an associate editor for the DINAMINA Sinhala language daily newspaper published by the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon limited (ANCL) from 2005.

In year 2000 pioneered to establish the "Journalists for Peace" an organization known for defending the rights of the Tamil minority in Sri Lanka, and promoting peace negotiations. From 2005 to 2009 worked as the president of the Sri Lanka Working Journalists Association (SLWJA). Served as a member of the board of directors for the Sri Lanka Press Institute (SLPI) in year 2007 - 08.

Fled the country in January 2009 because of life threats and living in Hamburg, Germany since June 2009, with the assistance of the Hamburg Foundation for Politically Persecuted.

Published a short story book in year 2000 and continuing creative prose writings while living in exile.
