Rolf Rettberg lives and works in Vienna, Bremen and Spain. He studied history and sociology, trained as a bookseller and worked in the fields of drug research and therapy and “streetwork.” Rettberg moved to Spain in 1985, where he became head of the German bookshop in Madrid and founded the German-Spanish literature and music company: Haendel & Company.  He also wrote journalistic pieces for Scherzo and Tranvia. In 2000, he was awarded the Romstipendium from the City of Vienna.
