Novelist Felicitas Hoppe studied literature, rhetoric, and religion in Tübingen and Rome and received her M.A. from the University of Oregon. She has published texts in anthologies, newspapers, and journals and has received various literary prizes. Hoppe's works include Picknick der Friseure, Verbrecher und Versager and Der beste Platz der Welt; as well as the publication of children's books and translations of poetry by Dr. Seuss into German.

During her stay at Villa Aurora, Hoppe will be working on a project entitled "Ilf and Petrow revisited". She is planning to follow in the footsteps of "The Russian Mark Twain", the famous writers and satirists Ilja Ilf and Jewgenij Petrow, who in 1935 published an account of their four months roundtrip through the United States including Mexico and the Southern States.
