Maike Wetzel studied directing at the HFF Munich and in the UK on a DAAD scholarship. She wrote and directed numerous short films and reportages. Her two collections of short stories Hochzeiten and Long Days received numerous awards. She also writes screenplays for feature films and journalistic reports, including for DIE ZEIT, Süddeutsche Zeitung, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. In 2014, she was writer-in-residence at the Goethe-Institut New Zealand. She lives in Berlin.
