Shin's artworks, which span the disciplines of painting, sculpture, and photography, offer insights into global power structures as well as her personal cultural development.
In the exhibition "Fly to India for Gold, Ransack the Ocean for Orient Pearl," Shin skillfully intertwines the stories of Germany and East Asia, achieving a harmonious fusion of diverse cultural elements that invites meaningful dialogue on intercultural relations.
In conversation with art historian Julia Rosenbaum, Shin will provide insights into her artistic approach and her time as a fellow of the Berlin Fellowship Program by VATMH. The focus will be on topics such as identity in the mirror of cultural interests and origins, as well as current issues of cultural appropriation.
The talk will be conducted in English and will last about an hour. Registration is not required.
