Thomas Stammer has been a member of the German Film Academy since 2010, and works as a production designer for cinema, television and commercials. He has been mainly living in Berlin since 1984.

After studying architecture at the UdK in Berlin, Thomas Stammer majored in film production design and took postgraduate courses in scenography at the HFF “Konrad Wolf” Potsdam Babelsberg – known today as Film University Babelsberg. His graduation film Kleingeld (Director: Marc-Andreas Bochert) won the 1999 Student Academy Award in the category “Best Foreign Film.” An Oscar nomination in the category “Short Film Live Action” followed in 2000.

Thomas Stammer has worked in Europe, the US and Asia. His movies, television and commercials have received numerous awards. The TV film Dresden (D 2006 directed by Roland Suso Richter) and Die Schatzinsel (G 2007, directed by Hansjörg Thurn), earned him a nomination for the German Television Award in 2006 and in 2008 for Best Art Direction. Most recently, Thomas Stammer received the TV Film Award from the German Academy of Performing Arts in the category “Production Design” for the miniseries Generation War (G 2013, directed by Philipp Kadelbach).
